Those of you who were Bristol Bites readers last year will know that I took part in the Live Below The Line challenge, which was certainly an experience. This year I’ll be doing the same again to raise money for Health Poverty Action.
Live Below The Line is a fundraising campaign created by the Global Poverty Project, and which will run from April 29th to May 3rd 2013. During this week, thousands of people across the UK will be sponsored to live on just £1 for food per day for 5 days to raise money and awareness for the 1.4 billion people around the world who are currently living in extreme poverty.
The challenge was tough last year (you can read all about it here), and I don’t envisage it being any easier this year! Luckily, my boyfriend Chris will also be taking part, so we’ll be able to pool our resources to give us a massive £10 for the pair of us for five days. We’ve started thinking about our shopping list already, but if you have any ideas as to how to make our money stretch as far as possible, let me know!
Important to bear in mind are the following facts: the full cost of all items must be included in the budget, no combination of meals on a given day can exceed the £1 limit each, and we’re not allowed to eat or drink anything that we already have in the flat. It really is even more difficult than it sounds…
I’ll be blogging about my progress when it gets to the week of the challenge – but before then, I’d like to make a shameless plea for sponsorship. The main reason I’m doing this is to raise money for Health Poverty Action – a charity whose mission is to tackle poverty and improve the health of mothers, newborns and families in the poorest communities worldwide.
I’d be grateful for any sponsorship that Bites readers can provide – it’s all going to a fantastic cause! Simply click here to visit my profile page and make a donation. And if you fancy joining me in my challenge…we’re creating a Bites team to raise as much money as possible for Health Poverty Action. Click this link to sign up, then visit this link to join the team. I’ll sponsor as many of those who join as I can
It’s a very worthwhile cause, and an exciting challenge. I’m looking forward to seeing how I get on…
