A special Lantern Festival will be held at Zen Restaurant on Harbourside, Bristol to mark the end of 15 days of celebrations for the Chinese New Year.

The traditional festival, which is celebrated throughout China and other Eastern countries, is marked with the lighting of spectacular lanterns and feasting.

Suzanna Ho of Zen Restaurant said: “The Lantern Festival is on February 24 and will be marked by Chinese people all around the world. It is the end of the 15 days of celebrating the New Year. At Zen we will be welcoming Bristol people and the Chinese community for a great evening of celebration when they can light their traditional lanterns.”

The Lantern festival is all about cultivating positive relationships between people and bringing families and friends together. To mark this all diners at Zen will be presented with a complimentary dessert called Tangruan.

The dessert, which represents “togetherness” is made up of little rice balls containing sesame or red bean paste.

Zen at Harbourside has hosted a variety of events for Chinese New Year including a sold out dinner and dance for the Bristol Chinese student community on Friday February 8. Booking for the Lantern Festival can be made on 0117 920 9377.
