A family-run Bristol company is rapidly expanding in the South West by launching its fourth restaurant in the South West within five years despite the current economic climate.
Mezze Restaurants, which opened its first restaurant – Mezze at the Royal George – in Thornbury in 2008, has grown at a phenomenal rate and will shortly have a chain of five restaurants under its belt.
The company is busy redeveloping The Warwick Arms in Clutton, with a £400,000 makeover in preparation for its official launch in February.
It is undergoing an extensive refurbishment with complete renovation of the old open fire into an impressive central feature fireplace with a wood burning stove, a new cocktail bar, an A La Carte restaurant and a new eight-bedroom boutique hotel.
Outside, a new Mediterranean garden with Marshfields ice cream parlour and heated al fresco dining for up to 100 people is being created, along with a wooden drawbridge taking customers into a new enclosed children’s play area complete with play pirate ship and castle, trampoline and picnic areas.
Mezze spokesman Alex Tryfonos is delighted with the firm’s exceptional growth which is helping to bring some much needed jobs to the local area.
He said: “We are thrilled with the rapid expansion of the Mezze chain across the South West, which has regenerated the fortunes of several old and much-loved pubs in the region.
“To think five years ago we were a small Bristol company and now we have five Mezze outlets in the South West which employ over a hundred local residents in a variety of jobs.
“We believe that pubs are the central hub of our local communities and through our continued self-funded investment we are helping to ensure that they continue to thrive as the focal point of these small towns.
“Mezze at the Warwick Arms will be our fourth restaurant in five years, which will be closely followed by Mezze at The White Lion in Portishead, opening in May.”
Mezze at the Warwick Arms opens to the public on February 9, following a series of pre-launch evenings from February 5-7 for local residents to see the transformation.
An official VIP launch evening takes place on Friday February 8, conducted by a host of local sports stars and celebrities at 7pm.
Alex added: “We are delighted to welcome everyone especially the local business owners and residents who have been fantastic in helping to support and officially launch our new venture.
“We have a team of executive and head chefs at Mezze who have gained very broad experience at Browns, Severn Shed, Aqua, Melbournes and Redcliffs to name but a few.
“They have created an A La Carte menu which is varied and with our trademark Mediterranean influences very apparent and we hope everyone will get chance to come and see our new flag ship Mezze transformation. ”
