Cherry Picked Catering taking over former Howards premises

Those of you who walk past the site of the former Howards Restaurant in Hotwells on a regular basis may have noticed the painting and other work that has been going on at the venue over the last few months. The signs have now gone up outside, confirming that the address will be home to Bristol-based catering company Cherry Picked Catering as of June.

Cherry Picked Catering is an events catering business and cookery school owned by Conrad Jenkins – a name that will be familiar to many. Along with brother Simon, Conrad owned Howards Restaurant for five years before it closed down, and the team were also behind Jameson’s in Upper Maudlin Street.

The Upper Maudlin Street presence still exists in the form of cafe Break N Take, and it’s good to see the Howards building now being put to good use.

As well as being a base for the company, the Avon Crescent address will, according to the website, host “a cookery school and unique private fine dining experience”. From this summer, groups of guests will be able to book The Chefs Table for exclusive hire, for groups of between 8 and 14. The venue will be fully licensed, and can be hired for breakfast, lunch or dinner – either work with the team to create a menu based on your requirements, or go with Conrad’s own menu, priced at £20 for breakfast, £32.50 for a three course lunch, or £45 for an evening meal.

It’s certainly a very different-sounding venue – we’re looking forward to checking it out once it opens!
