Innovative Chinese food cooked by one of Europe’s top Chinese chefs will be served to a select group of people in Queen Square, Bristol as part of the Eat Drink Bristol Fashion event this month.
Bristol’s Dynasty restaurant has linked up with the Michelin-starred Chang-I restaurant in Amsterdam to bring a new taste of Chinese food to Bristol for the first time.
Dynasty in St Thomas Street, Bristol takes over the specially built pop-up tipi in Queen Square on the evening of Sunday April 29 with a five-course menu giving Bristol people their first ever taste of the innovative food that has made Chang-I the talk of Amsterdam.
A chef from the Dutch restaurant will be cooking alongside Dynasty’s established team of chefs to provide three sittings of the tasting banquet at 6.30 pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
Dynasty owner Suzanna Ho said: “This is a unique event in a unique setting so we want to showcase the most innovative and exciting Chinese food in the world. We genuinely want to gauge the reaction of the Bristol public as we are considering bringing the recipes to Bristol.
“It is a new concept. People will be served plated Chinese food rather than tucking into food put into the centre of the table –but it is the flavours and exciting way it is cooked that will excite people most”
There are still 21 tickets left for the Dynasty event where the Amsterdam chef will cook with the established Bristol chefs to showcase dishes that have been successful across Europe.
Before the five courses diners will enjoy some samplers and appetisers. The first course is a trio of lobster, including a steamed lobster dumpling, a lobster soup and a tempura lobster claw with wasabi mayonnaise.
Second course is a crispy duck salad. The third course will see diners served with a fish course of seabass served in a red curry sauce. The main course is a Black Angus Beef steak served in a Chinese vinegar reduction with Chinese vegetables and those with room left will be treated to a special trio of desserts.

The Eat Drink Bristol Fashion event is a celebration of Bristol restaurants running from April 25 to May 7. Alongside the ticket-only Dynasty event will be a champagne and wine bar where diners can gather before and relax after their meal.
