My final blog post before the new site goes live!

Spread the love

This is it! After today there will be no new content added to bristolbites.wordpress.com, as we’ll be spending the next week undertaking the mammoth task of migrating existing content across to the new site…

There’s still a lot to do before we launch the new site on the 17th. We need to add in the old content from the blog to the site and make sure it’s all formatted properly. This will be the biggest job, but Chris at Bristol 24-7, who’s done a great job of designing the new site for me, will be doing the technical stuff…just as well, really!

I also need to get cracking with uploading recipes to the brand new Recipes section on the Bristol Bites site. We’ve already had some submissions from chefs, bloggers and those who purely love cooking…if you’d like one of your recipes to be included when we launch, then drop me an email at Emily@breaksandbites.co.uk.

I also need to do some work on the food and drink business directory that’ll appear on the new site (160-odd businesses added already, but that’s only a small proportion of all those in Bristol!), sort out redirection from the old site to the new one, do lots of testing of the ‘hidden’ version of the new site…it’s going to be a busy week!

Those of you who subscribe to the current Google Calendar on the blog will be happy to know that we’re transferring this to the new site, as it was by far the easiest option. We toyed with a different plugin but it just didn’t work quite as well.

Last but not least, we need to finalise everything for the launch party on the night of the 17th – we’ve got over 100 guests from all manner of Bristol-based food and drink businesses confirmed so far, and it looks like it’s going to be a fun night!

Thank you all for your good luck messages so far…we’re very excited about the new site! Hopefully you’ll find it more useful than the blog, and will continue to keep reading…

See you in just over a week!

Em x
