Free fish and chips in Bristol on September 22nd!

To celebrate turning 50 this year, breakdown cover provider Green Flag is providing free fish and chips at Cabot Circus, Bristol, on Wednesday, September 22nd.

Green Flag began life above a fish and chip shop 50 years ago this year, so the offer of free fish and chips is a fitting tribute to its beginnings! On Wednesday, September 22nd, between 11am and 3pm, simply visit Cabot Circus, collect a voucher, and redeem your free fish and chip lunch from The Frying Squad’s van. Be quick though – there are only 300 vouchers available on the day…

Research commissioned by Green Flag reveals that 73% of people living in Bristol say that fish and chips is the most British dish of all time – beating other options such as the full English breakfast and a traditional Sunday roast. But how do you eat yours? 36% of those living in Bristol think that using their fingers is the best way to enjoy fish and chips, with just 15% using a knife and fork.

Nationally, Green Flag’s research also highlights British dishes that curry less favour, such as black pudding – which 8% saw as the most British dish – and Eton Mess, with just 5% of the votes.

Mark Newberry, Commercial Director at Green Flag, commented: “It’s very exciting to be celebrating our 50th birthday. Since founding the business above a fish ‘n’ chip shop back in 1971, we’ve always had big ambitions here at Green Flag, using our network of local independent recovery experts to deliver excellent service and great value breakdown cover some five decades on. We want everyone to come together and celebrate this milestone and enjoy a fish and chip lunch from The Frying Squad, on us!”

Put the date in your diary for a free lunch! What do you think is the most iconic British dish?
