The shortlist for this year’s Asian Restaurant Awards, being held in Manchester at the end of August, has been announced – and two Bristol restaurants have made the final cut.
Open to all restaurants of Asian and Oriental cuisines across the UK, the Asian Restaurant Awards have seen over 100,000 online votes being cast by members of the public to determine the finalists.
Now, judges from the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), which hosts the Asian Restaurant Awards, are visiting the shortlisted businesses to determine the overall winners for each category.
In the South West category, Bristol has made two appearances, with both Urban Tandoor (on Small Street) and Urban Kohinoor (on Whiteladies Road) shortlisted. They join Maha Bharat (Kingsbridge, Devon), Café Diwali (Salisbury), Spice Club (Bridgewater) and Shapla (Alresford), who make up the rest of the final six in the category.
The Asian Restaurant Awards cover the complete range of Asian and Oriental cuisines: Bangladeshi, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese. The winners of each category will be announced at a gala dinner and ceremony at the Mercure Piccadilly, Manchester, on Tuesday, August 31st.

“These awards will acknowledge the sector’s resilience, innovation and generosity in the face of such adversity.”
