Brand new “bar & kitchen” Brace & Browns is now open at 43 Whiteladies Road, just before Café Retreat as you’re walking up from the Triangle…
They don’t appear to have a website, Facebook page or Twitter account as yet, so most of the info I have is from the blackboards outside the venue!
I popped in today to find out what was going on…apparently Brace & Browns was actually opened ahead of schedule due to the two bank holiday weekends and the weather – with a fantastic terrace at the front of the venue, it would have been silly not to!
Despite being a “bar & kitchen”, the kitchen part isn’t yet in operation, with the guy that we spoke to saying that it was likely that they would start serving food in mid-May.
They will, however, be providing drinkers with a barbecue on both Friday, April 29th and Sunday, May 1st, expecting this to take place between 4-9pm on Friday and 3-8pm-ish on Sunday. It’s a great opportunity to check out a venue that’s been closed since the end of 2008 – it might be worth making sure you have plenty of cash on you, though, as when we visited there were signs at the bar saying that they weren’t yet accepting card payments…

Service was terrible drinks were expensive defo not a place to spend your hard earned cash
Love the place, was in last Thursday and came back the friday, fish and chips is beautiful. Due to many places closing on Whiteladies (both Dragon kiss and the Ranch disappearing in only a few weeks) its great to see a new venue doing so well.
Clifton lad, i suggest giving the new place a second chance, looks like they are getting up and running so have patience. As they get more adept speed and quality of service will doubtless increase.
