Mary-Jane’s Coffee shop on Whiteladies Road has reportedly seen a huge uptake in the number of customers in the last couple of weeks, as fears about Covid-19 have gripped the city. While it’s not a cure for the virus, many people take CBD in a bid to boost their immune system and beat all sorts of illnesses.

However, despite this upturn in sales – and Mary-Jane’s tongue-in-cheek offer of free toilet roll with every bottle of CBD purchased – the venue sadly closed its doors on March 18th, just nine and a half months after it first opened.

Mary-Jane’s Coffee founder, Jon Antoniou, says, “We’d like to thank Bristolians for the warm welcome they have given us since we opened in May last year, and all our customers who have been a pleasure to meet and serve. The high street is going through a challenging time in general but unfortunately, having just about survived a quiet winter with storm after storm battering our city, we are now facing the challenge of not being able to serve customers for an unknown period while the coronavirus threat is in our city. This has sadly led to us taking the decision to close our coffee shop in Clifton”.

It’s unlikely that Mary-Jane’s will be the last food and drink business closed as a result of coronavirus in the city – but the good news is, they will still be trading online. Visit their website to find out more.
