As of Friday, June 28th, Long Ashton is home to a brand new neighbourhood kitchen – The Old Library – named after the premises’ previous occupant.

The library closed in autumn last year, and the right-hand wall of the venue at 5-6 Lovelinch Gardens is filled with books as a nod to its former life.

Open from 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 6pm on Sundays, The Old Library serves the standard range of hot drinks, starting from £2 for an espresso and ranging to £3 for a hot chocolate. There are babyccinos and baby hot chocolates on offer for those heading in with little ones, along with a variety of Teapigs teas, coffee syrups and dairy-free milks. Those who become regulars can also take advantage of the venue’s loyalty scheme, which offers a free hot drink with every seven purchased.

There’s an amazing looking range of cakes, pastries, biscuits and traybakes on offer (priced from £1.50 to £3, and baked locally in Long Ashton), as well as a stunning white domed pizza oven serving up what one early visitor has described as “the best [pizza] I’ve tasted outside of Rome”.

The premises is licensed, too, so you’ll find a selection of wines, beers and spirits on offer. And there’s outside seating as well, so diners and drinkers can make the most of the summer months!

Find out more about The Old Library on Instagram and Facebook – from the feedback I’ve seen, it sounds like the place is already becoming a popular addition to the village!
