On Thursday, June 13th, local brewery Left Handed Giant opened their new brewpub at Finzels Reach, taking over the development’s Compressor Building.

The new venue comes in addition to their existing brewery in St Philips…which means they’re now brewing their range at two Bristol sites.

Because the Finzels Reach premises isn’t just a pub – it’s a brewpub, and drinkers can see the area where the magic takes place from various locations within the cavernous premises. They’ve got plenty of variety on draught, from their own range to guest brews and collaborations with other breweries. They’ve got both indoor and outdoor covered seating. And they’ve got a great food supplier in, too.

Mission Pizza will be turning out some tasty wood-fired vegetarian pizzas to the brewpub’s clientele, with topping combos including the Proper Job (tomato, red onion, vegetarian fennel sausage, fior di latte and jalapenos), as well as the Kale Rider (garlic butter, roasted kale, Cheddar, red onion, fior di latte and pimento peppers).

Both Mission Pizza and Left Handed Giant are there thanks to successful crowdfunding campaigns: the former raising £22,625 via Crowdfunder, the latter a whopping £1,050,300 via Crowdcube. And judging from the tweets I’ve seen on day 2, the opening night was very popular indeed. Good luck for the rest of the first week…with the winning combination of beer and pizza, it’s bound to be a success!
