Bare Grills

It’s a shame that Grillstock stopped trading. We were big fans – but after the company went into administration in late 2017 and a new buyer took over, the decision was made to close the doors for good in October 2018 after a tough year.

In a bizarre twist, Pete Griffiths – who was part of the Grillstock gang several years ago – has been brought in by Bare Grills to transform the former Grillstock Smokehouse premises on the Triangle into the location of their third restaurant, set to open this December.

The first Bare Grills opened in Weston four years ago, with the Taunton restaurant following two years later. And now, the team are bringing their own brand of slow-smoked meats, hand-pressed burgers and dry-aged steaks to BS8, using local produce where possible.

The menu features everything you’d expect: burgers, hotdogs, smoked meats, steaks… There are a couple of veggie options on there too, plus gluten-free buns to cater for even more diners. And there’s halloumi fries on the list of sides, so I’m sold straight away…

The other restaurants are licenced, so I’m assuming Clifton will be the same. But in all honesty, I’m not going to speculate anymore – if you’re after updates, you’ll find them on the Bare Grills Facebook and Twitter feeds!
