It’s goodbye to Park Street’s Tea Birds and hello to Mrs Potts Chocolate House, as Michael and Jennifer Potts open their house of chocolate fun this September.

The Australian couple will be serving up a whole host of cocoa-based treats when they open, from pure melted chocolate fondues to chocolate-drizzled Eton Mess, softly set chocolate pots, chocolate hazelnut tarts and all sorts of other cakes and desserts. Their drinks menu is pretty impressive too, with hot chocolate, hot cocoa and chocolate chai on offer, as well as various coffees and loose leaf teas.

The chocolate house is a popular concept in Australia, they say, and they believe that Bristol – with its impressive chocolatey history – is the ideal location for such a venue. They’ll be working with local suppliers like Guilberts Chocolatiers and Wogan Coffee, and there will be both gluten-free and vegan options available too.

The pair have refurbished the former tea room which seats 30 customers: the main feature will be the central marble counter that boasts three pots of pure melting chocolate, where cocoa-lovers can coat their dessert with milk, dark or white chocolate depending on their tastes…

“Early September” is all we know in terms of an opening date – but we do know that Mrs Potts Chocolate House will be open from 11am to 8pm Sunday to Wednesday, and from 11am to 11pm Thursday to Saturday. Keep an eye on their Facebook page and their Instagram feed for updates…
