Whether it’s pizza, Indian, Chinese or any other cuisine, it’s getting to that time of year when it’s far easier to order a takeaway by phone or online and have it delivered to our door, rather than braving the cold and picking up our own meals.
It’s also getting to the time of year when the British Takeaway Awards take place: an awards ceremony that’s now in its second year, and that celebrates the very best of our takeaway restaurants, all over the UK.
The first round of nominations has now closed, and we’re now down to the final shortlisted takeaways in each region. Here in the South West, there are ten different venues that have made the shortlist – and the venue with the most votes when the second stage of the competition closes on October 24th will be guaranteed a place at the grand final, which takes place at London’s Savoy Hotel on December 5th.
The full list of those on the South West shortlist is as follows:
- Gurkha’s Kitchen, Plymouth: Nepalese and Indian cuisine
- Smokey’s American Grill, Trowbridge: Burgers, burritos and more
- The Cornish Pizza Company, St Agnes: Authentic thin crust pizza
- Minnies Eatery, Exmouth: Pizzas, burgers and more
- Marmaris Kebab & Pizza, Barnstaple: Kebabs, burgers and pizzas
- New Jumbo Takeaway, Exeter: Fish and chips, plus Chinese dishes
- Nacho Cheese, Trowbridge: Mexican and Tex Mex cuisine
- Pimms Pizza, Bristol: Pizza takeaway on Bristol’s North Street
- Masala Indian Takeaway, Barnstaple: Popular Indian takeaway
- Papa Raj, Plymouth: Award-winning Indian takeaway
Do any of these get your vote? If so, head over to the British Takeaway Awards website and cast your vote: by voting for your favourite, you’ll not only to help them to edge closer to the final, but you’ll also have the chance to win £1,000 for yourself. Good luck!
