Time really does fly. It’s hard to believe that Deliveroo, the on-demand delivery service for high-quality restaurant meals, is celebrating its first birthday in Bristol today (April 5th)!
Since it launched last year, over 70 restaurants have signed up to Deliveroo and more than 100 jobs have been created for local people in Bristol, with the majority of these being the Deliveroo riders that aim to bring food from the restaurant kitchen to your door in 30 minutes.
The riders deliver to homes, offices and other addresses across Bristol via a fleet of delivery mopeds and bicycles, and cover more than 5,000km in an average week. During the first year of trading in Bristol, Deliveroo riders have covered over 260,000km: equal to travelling around the world more than six times.
Deliveroo’s General Manager Jeremy Rawlinson says, “We’ve had a fantastic first year and the service has been incredibly well received by local foodies. We’ve served thousands of local customers and we’re looking forward to continuing to bring delicious dishes straight from the hands of Bristol chefs to customers’ doors.
“Bristol is a multicultural and prosperous area with a diverse range of chain and independent restaurants, and in the past year we have seen a real appetite for the service. We want to give Bristolians even more choice to enjoy their dining in experience from this extensive mix of eateries.
“We already have a number of great partners across the city and we are excited to expand and widen the variety of restaurants on offer to our customers in Bristol.”
Burger Joint owner Dan Bekhradnia is happy too, saying, “Since partnering with Deliveroo our orders continue to grow month on month. By allowing us to now offer delivery, something that we would not have been able to do by ourselves, we have opened up a huge new market which is very lucrative.”
The most popular restaurants ordered from via the app include Thali Café, Burger Joint, Bagel Boy and Wagamama.
Deliveroo customers have the option to schedule orders via the Deliveroo app up to one day in advance or have their food delivered ASAP from the time of ordering between 12 noon and 11pm, from a variety of leading local, independent and high-quality chain restaurants.
