New bar and dining concept The Boardroom opens on December 10th at 20 St Nicholas Street, the former home of The Elephant. Owned by The Way Out West Pub Company, The Boardroom is just the start of the company’s upcoming plans, which will see them opening six more similar sites across the South West over the coming months.
Expect a “convivial con amici European style of dining” – The Boardroom will all be about grazing. Co-owner Sandra Hazzard says, “The concept for The Boardroom came about when we realised that we enjoyed drinking fine wines alongside cheese and charcuterie boards at home”.
The menu will star a range of specially selected boards designed for sharing, along with take away lunches for nearby office workers. Rather than the traditional three course meal, the food will be prepared behind the bar and will evolve with the seasons, and will use local suppliers such as charcuterie from Native Breeds and Somerset Charcuterie, locakl cheeses, handmade chocolate and more.
Boards can be paired with a variety of wines from Smith & Evans, beers from Wipe and True and local ciders, whisky and wine flights and more, and the team also plan on introducing events that will include wine tastings, “meet the brewer” evenings and specialist cheese nights.
