Mission Burrito via Deliveroo: Review

Spread the love

Yet another instalment in our attempt to eat our way through Deliveroo‘s offerings! This time we ordered our evening meal from Mission Burrito: the popular burrito joint located on Park Street. Having already ordered from Fuego via Deliveroo and being massively disappointed, we were hoping that Mission Burrito would fare better…

Deliveroo was launched in Bristol at the end of March 2015, and – at the time of writing – offers food deliveries from a wide range of restaurants to those living or working in the Broadmead, Clifton, Redlands, Cotham, Montpelier, Cabot Circus and Central Bristol areas. More delivery areas are set to be added down the line, along with a wider range of restaurants from which to choose.

As ever, the service was incredibly easy to use: I simply needed to input my postcode and the delivery time required, before choosing Mission Burrito from the list of restaurants and placing our order online. When orders are placed via mobile phone, as ours was, you’re provided with regular updates as to the status of your order, and every order we’ve placed so far has arrived either on time or early – impressive indeed.

Our delivery driver was fairly chatty, and we were pleased to see that our cold drinks were provided in one bag and our hot food in the other, making it less likely that the former would squash the latter while in transit.

It’s also good to see that burritos can be customised when ordering through Deliveroo, as they can when ordering face to face in the restaurant. To both my pork carnitas burrito (£5.65) and Chris’ ancho chilli beef burrito (£5.95), we added pinto beans with bacon, sour cream, lettuce, rice (we assumed we needed to add rice for it to be included at all – this wasn’t clear…), pico de gallo, Monterey Jack cheese (30p extra) and guacamole (70p extra). Chris then added the hot habanero salsa, while I stuck with the mild salsa verde…

The picture says it all – this was a beautiful burrito. The fillings were evenly distributed, my pork was juicy and full of flavour, and the burrito held together perfectly. The salsa verde and guacamole added a freshness to the rich flavours of the pork and beans, and the burrito was certainly generous in its size.

Chris was equally impressed with his: the beef was tender and flavourful, and the habanero salsa certainly had a kick to it…!

We also ordered a Jarritos drink each (£2.50), refreshing lime for me, and mandarin for Chris – the price may be high for small bottles, but they were incredibly tasty.

Based on our experience of ordering from Mission Burrito via Deliveroo, we’d certainly do so again – I can’t fault this meal at all.

Please note: our order was discounted, but this in no way impacted on our opinion. We were not obliged to write a positive review, and the venue did not see this review before it was put up on the site.
