Dessert bars are all the rage at the moment. Sundaes Gelato, No Man’s Grace, Flavalanche, Angelberry, Kaspas Desserts opening soon on Park Street…we’re blessed with a wealth of places that focus their attention on sweet treats.
Now there’s a new place opening further outside of the city centre, with Scoops Desserts set to open on Fishponds Road in late May, in time for half term.
Open 7 days a week from around 11am to midnight, Scoops is a family-run business, with the owners living locally.
Menu-wise, expect around 36 flavours of gelato and sorbets, along with waffles, chocolate fondue, sundaes, cakes, tea, coffee and milkshakes. What’s different about this place, though, is that they’ll also have a separate room for e-shisha, which will double up during the day as a private party room or additional seating area. There will also be a loyalty card scheme, along with kids’ meal deals – and they’ll be stocking gluten free ice cream cones and making gluten free waffles for those following a GF diet.
“We’re not a huge corporate”, say the owners, “we’ve just seen a gap in the market in Bristol. We’re looking to get people’s support and get them involved as much as possible, and take their ideas on board too.”

Lucky me! This is so close to my house and I can’t wait to have my first waffle (gluten free) in many years! Not to mention an ice cream with a cone. It’s my birthday at the end of May too!
