Aron’s Jewish Delicatessen opening on Chandos Road in April

Spread the love

We have plenty of delis in Bristol. What we don’t have, as yet, is a Jewish delicatessen…but that’s all set to change when Aron’s Jewish Delicatessen opens on Chandos Road in April.

Formerly home to Happy Days Dog Care, number 19 Chandos Road will be transformed into an independent, family-run premises that will be “inspired by the Jewish delis of Manhattan’s Lower East Side”. Co-founders Marta Aron and Steve Varcoe will be serving up a menu of traditional Jewish deli food, including home-cured lox, brisket that they have brined themselves for their salt beef on rye and their own baked bletzel, bialys and challah. Chicken soup with matzo balls, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels and latkes with apple sauce will be among other items that will grace the menu, along with both hot and cold drinks and a range of alcoholic beverages.

The sample menu on their website shows an extensive choice of options, with a special brunch menu, various appetisers and daily specials and deli sandwiches available in two different sizes.

Aron’s Jewish Delicatessen will be open six days a week: from 11am to 5pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 11am to 10pm on Thursdays and Fridays, 9am to 10pm on Saturdays and 9am to 5pm on Sundays. An official opening date hasn’t yet been announced, but you can stay up-to-date with their plans by visiting their website and checking their Facebook page.

  1. We had a fantastic meal at Aron’s Jewish Delicatessen last night, I loved the ‘Reuben’ sandwich with house salt beef griddled on rye with melted cheese. It went down a treat with a Bristol Beer Factory ale. Will definitely be a regular here!
