Bristol Cider Shop has received licensing approval to open a cider tasting room to the rear of their shop on Christmas Steps in central Bristol. The new space will allow them to hold regular cider tastings, as well as cider and food matching events, ‘meet the producer’ events, and cider dinners.

The tasting room will be officially opened on Thursday 16th October as part of Bristol Cider Shop’s annual ‘Apple Day’ celebrations. There will be a number of cider tastings over the opening weekend, as well as an exhibition of cider photography and the shop’s annual apple rolling competition.

The tasting room will be available for pre-arranged cider tastings which are expected to be weekly. Cider tastings typically last between 1-2 hours and include up to 10 different award-winning ciders and perries. The room will also be available for private tastings, corporate events and Christmas parties.

Nick Davis, co-owner of the shop, said “We can’t wait to open the tasting room. People are always asking us if we run cider tastings and we didn’t have anywhere to hold them before but now we have the perfect venue.”

The apple rolling takes place on Saturday 18th October. The children’s roll is at 2pm, followed by the adults’ roll at 3pm. Contestants are encouraged to bring their own apples, which can be decorated, or they can buy one on the day. There will be prizes for the children and cider for the adults.
