Christie + Co has sold the freehold of The Barrel Inn in Thornbury at an asking price of £325,000. The new owners James & Simon have both worked in the industry for many years: their first purchase of a freehold site in Tewkesbury was a run down pub, extensively refurbished to create a relaxed, friendly & informal cafe bar named ‘Theoc House’.
The historic Barrel Inn, Thornbury had seen little investment for many years. The refurbishment will take around 8 weeks with the majority of the work done by the new owners. Improvements include full new toilet facilities, an extended open kitchen and new decoration & furnishings throughout. Hawkes House is due to open the week beginning 28th of October.
Opening at 8:30am, the new operation will serve a variety of great freshly cooked meals right through to 10pm. Available from the bar will be a quality selection of artisan coffees and teas, quirky soft drinks, an interesting mix of continental and local draught beers and a carefully crafted wine list.
Daily newspapers, free wifi, books and board games will be available making Hawkes House the perfect relaxed, informal environment whether for a morning coffee, brunch meeting, ladies’ lunch or an evening out with friends.
Nicholas Calfe who dealt with the sale commented, ‘The opening of this new concept the Hawkes House will undoubtedly rejuvenate the St Mary Centre and boost trade locally.’
