If you’re looking for a proper village pub with a beer garden this summer, check out The Queens in Chew Magna, who celebrate their second birthday this June.
The pub, just a 20-minute drive from Bristol and surrounded by the Somerset countryside, will be launching a brand new summer menu on June 22nd to coincide with their second birthday.
The team behind The Queens Chew Magna took on the pub in 2019, spending eight months renovating it to the highest standards before opening in the midst of the pandemic. It’s proved popular both with locals and with those looking for somewhere to eat or drink after a walk or bike ride in the area – and also features a suntrap garden and four beautiful guest bedrooms.
On June 22nd there will be a birthday party that’s open to everyone, including music from local musicians, a darts tournament, and the launch of The Queens’ new menu.
It’s a menu that’s been created by Head Chef Jordan Meagher, alongside his brother and Senior Sous Chef Jack. There will be small plates and pub classics on offer, as well as a good vegetarian and vegan offering. The focus is on seasonal, local produce, with suppliers including the Story Group, W J Pearce & Sons Butchers, Green Acres Farm and Conscious Food.
Speaking about the Chew Magna pub’s second birthday and the new menu launch, the team said:
“It’s been amazing to see our visitor numbers grow since opening just as the lockdown had lifted, and we’ve loved meeting more and more customers who are coming from further afield to visit. Our birthday party on the 22nd June is a chance to say thank you to everyone for their support, and seemed like the perfect time to launch our brand new menu.
“Chefs Jordan and Jack have put everything into this new menu, and we’re confident it’s our strongest menu yet, offering something for everyone. From delicious small plates, perfect for sharing over a bottle of wine in the garden, through to our classics such as our 7 oz cheeseburger, we’re so proud of it and can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
Book a table now for between June 22nd and 25th, and providing your booking is made before Wednesday, June 21st, you’ll receive a complimentary glass of fizz when you arrive. The birthday party itself will take place from 4pm on Thursday, June 22nd, with both bookings and walk-ins welcome.
The Queens is then open Monday and Tuesday, 4pm – 10pm (drinks only), Wednesday and Thursday, 3pm – 10pm (drinks and food between 5:30 – 8:30pm), Friday and Saturday, 12pm – 11pm (food 12-2:30 pm and 5:30 -8:30pm on Friday and 1pm – 8:30pm on Saturday).
