With lockdown easing still further this week, and the weather getting warmer, you may be looking to ramp up your social life or reconnect with family by entertaining in your back garden, or with a picnic in the park. And Bristol-based start-up All About The Cooks is here to help, with their tempting array of outdoor-friendly foods.

Launched by Claire Ladkin, All About The Cooks allows Bristolians to discover talented home cooks, making and selling food via this new platform in our city. The All About The Cooks platform ensures that the cooks they work with adopt stringent food safety measures, and there are now over 30 home cooks signed up, many of whom are professional chefs who found themselves without work as a result of the pandemic. And with outdoor entertaining season starting to arrive, these cooks have created some great dishes that are designed for al fresco dining, available to order via the website.

Options for picnics include quiches, flapjacks or a full afternoon tea from cook Sarah; freshly baked tear and share breads from Priscilla; breads and dips inspired by Tel Aviv street food from Ben and more. If you’re looking to host a garden part sinner, then you’ll find fresh artisan pasta from James and Coco (former head chef at 1766 Bar & Kitchen); roast stuffed chicken with a Turkish rice pilav from Duygu; plant-based tapas from former Paco Tapas head chef David; and a three-course spring feast from Sicilian cook Mariangela, among others.

Says Founder of All About The Cooks, Claire Ladkin: “The rule of six is now allowing us to reconnect with friends and family, whether that’s in a local park or in our own back gardens. With so many talented home cooks living in this city, we’re encouraging the people of Bristol to consider letting them prepare your picnic food or garden party dinner, instead perhaps of relying on shop-bought, factory-made products. Sharing real food made with love and passion with the people you love is so central to being human and is something we’ve all missed hugely. I’m proud of the variety of foods and dishes the cooks have developed that are suited to outdoor dining and am excited about some delicious sounding BBQ options that a number of cooks are developing for summer-time! Watch this space.”
