The Coconut Tree has launched a new click and collect service from its Gloucester Road restaurant after investing in new tech and operational procedures.
It’s now possible to pre-order Sri Lankan food for collection directly through The Coconut Tree website. While it’s still possible to order through Uber Eats and Deliveroo too, the new offering aims to cut commission costs and keep more revenue within the business.
The menu is made up of smaller, tapas-style dishes that are cooked to order. Some of the most popular dishes on the menu include hot battered spicy cuttlefish; Cheesy Colombo (spiced fried cheese cubes); Jaffna goat curry with potato, and Black Pork – pork belly cooked in 30 different roasted spices. The Kotthu is also a popular Sri Lankan street food: finely chopped rotti cooked with egg, vegetables and/or meat.
As part of the new click and collect service, The Coconut Tree will also be offering a variety of handmade vegan ice creams, made for the restaurant by Dolcetti – a family-run Cirencester business. These will be available in 500ml tubs in three different flavours: Coconut Cream, Mango Sorbet and Vegan Stracciatella.
