The Red Church – from the team behind Crack Magazine and The Spotted Cow – will be opening on Church Road this spring.
Located in the old Lloyds Bank building, The Red Church – a new drinking and dining venue – will be the result of a huge renovation project on the premises, giving it a large open-plan area for dining and drinking, alongside a seated mezzanine area.
With over 100 seats, the new venue’s kitchen will be headed up by Simon Miller, former head chef at The Ethicurean in Wrington, who will be cooking up a locally sourced menu with a firm focus on quality.
Drinks-wise, there’ll be beers from plenty of Bristol breweries on offer, as well as both cask and keg guest ales on rotation. The Crack Magazine team will be brewing and serving an in-house special from their own Crack Ales range, while there will also be an extensive wine list featuring both organic and vegan options.
A Pinewood Studios sound system and a vinyl-only music policy will add to the vibe at The Red Church, which is the brainchild of Tom Frost and Jake Applebee from Crack Magazine, along with Dave Smeaton, owner and operator of The Spotted Cow.
The three first teamed up in May 2014 to open The Christmas Steps pub, restoring the building (which dates back to 1600) with a refit that highlighted its many period features.
Tom Frost, co-founder of The Red Church and Crack Magazine said: “We can’t wait to open the doors of the Red Church and look forward to welcoming all members of the local community and beyond into what will be a unique offer in the area. The vision for The Red Church has long been in the pipeline and we’re excited to show people the reimagining and renovation of this old bank building into a modern drinking and dining venue.”
The Red Church will be open from 10am – midnight on weekdays, 10am – 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and midday – midnight on Sundays.
