This July, Jekka’s Herb Farm in Alveston will be launching a brand new event for 2020 in the form of Jekka’s HerbFest.
Taking place from July 3rd to 5th, Jekka’s HerbFest will celebrate the growing and use of herbs, through expert talks, workshops and demonstrations. These will come from both Jekka McVicar and her team, as well as experts like two-Michelin starred chef Nathan Outlaw, Blue Peter and Garden Organic gardener Chris Collins, and international speaker Simon Mills MA FNIMH MCPP.
Topics covered over the course of the weekend will include cooking with herbs, eating herbs, growing and looking after herbs, the role of herbs in health and wellbeing, garden design tips, and the bees and insects that use herbs.
It’s also a chance to explore Jekka’s Herbetum, described as “a living encyclopedia of over 400 culinary herbs”, which ensures that the history, culinary and medicinal usage of herbs are not lost for future generations.
There will be stalls from local artisan businesses, alongside local musicians and artists. Local vegetarian and vegan food vendors will have sustainably-sourced treats on offer, while Jekka’s own herb-inspired cafe will offer the herb farm’s own herbal infusions, as well as coffee and homemade cakes.
The full programme and line up will soon be released on the website here, while tickets will also be available from the website. Jekka’s HerbFest will run from 10am to 4pm each day.
