Pizza lovers are in for a treat this March, as popular Bath pizza joint Dough will be opening their second restaurant on Bristol’s Baldwin Street.

South Italian duo Emiliano Tunno and Massimo Nucaro opened their Bath restaurant in 2016, and have received rave reviews from the likes of Olive magazine and others. The Bristol branch will be found at 30-34 Baldwin Street, formerly home to Aquila – giving them a massive 160-seat restaurant to fill.

But with so many pizza places nearby, what will make them stand out? The answer is not just their traditional methods, their quality ingredients and the fact that it’s two Italians behind the place…it’s the dough itself.

Here, you’ll find a huge range of different dough options – it’s not just the toppings you can choose when ordering. It means there’s something for all dietary requirements, and also the chance to add a bit more flavour to your pizza base if you’re not a fan of the regular kind. Currently, the Bath restaurant has twelve different options to choose from: along with their standard sourdough base, they offer hemp, gluten-free hemp, turmeric, gluten-free turmeric, gluten-free purple corn, grano arso, kamut, multi grain, seaweed and black rice.  Each of these can be chosen instead of sourdough for an additional £2.

There’s a huge variety of toppings on offer too – and some speciality pizzas that are made using the non-standard bases: the La Gina, for example, which combines “Fior di latte” mozzarella, caramelised onion, crispy speck, olive pâté, ricotta cheese, pistachios and a parmesan disc on a turmeric dough base.

Dough offer a few sides and desserts, too – and while there’s no children’s menu, reviews of the Bath place reveal that staff are happy to take orders for smaller pizzas for kids – complete with dough bunny ears attached.

Is the base selection at Dough just a gimmick? Reviews of the original restaurant seem to suggest otherwise – get excited about the opening by following the team on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
