From meat to milkshakes…the former D.R. Butt butcher’s premises at 238 North Street is now Shake Express, serving up shakes in over 120 flavours.
Shake Express opened on May 26th, and is the second outlet for the mum and daughter family business, who also have an outlet in Braintree, Essex. While they serve hot chocolates, tea, coffee, smoothies, snacks and more, the real focus is on their milkshakes – which can be served either hot or cold.
Milkshakes are available in three sizes, and there’s a ridiculously huge choice of flavours. The menu is divided into chocolate (Aero, Toblerone, Caramac etc.), Sweets (including cherry drops and parma violets), Cakes (I love the sound of a Bakewell Tart shake!), Biscuits, Angel Delight and “Other” – which features various flavoured syrups.
There’s also a range of toppings available, as well as the option to turn your creation into a protein shake. A flavoured shake with no added extras comes in at £2.50 for a small, £2.90 for a medium or £3.20 for a large, which seems pretty reasonable – and even their coffees are only £1.80 for the largest size.
Vegans are catered for too: shakes can be made with whole, skimmed or soya milk and ice cream, and many of the flavours are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Shake Express is open from 11am to 6pm Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturdays, and from 11am to 6pm on Sundays. You’ll find more info – including a full menu – on their website, or follow them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
[…] Now, though, there’s a new place on North Street dedicated solely to these decadent drinks, with Shake Express having opened on May 26th. […]
