Fans of Latin flavours should make their way to Las Iguanas on Bristol’s Harbourside, where both the decor and the menus have seen a recent refurb.

The team’s recent South American travels have inspired the quirky new decor with its blue hues and neon flashes, while there’s now also a bigger bar for speedier service.

To go with the new decor, the team have also introduced new seasonal food and drink options to whet the appetite. New main courses include the Ipanema mussels – cooked in a lightly spiced lime, coriander and coconut sauce – and the Seco de Cordero – Peruvian style slow cooked lamb shank in a golden ale, red wine and Amarillo chilli sauce, served with roasted sweet potato mash and crispy chilli and onions.

A popular vegetarian dish from Peru is the Cauliflower and Corn Quinotto, a quinoa risotto with smoked cheese, roasted cauliflower and charred baby corn, topped with puffed quinoa and crispy chilli.

I’m seriously tempted by the new desserts, which include Banana Empanada – traditional pastry hand- filled with banana, sweet plantain and dulce de leche served with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of rum-flavoured syrup. I’d also quite happily order the Piña Colada Mess; Piña Colada ice cream served with caramelised pineapple salsa, crispy pineapple pieces and toasted coconut chips.

Las Iguanas is known for its cocktails, and happy hour now lasts the whole day, with all cocktails now available 2-for-1, every day of the week.

And finally, Las Iguanas on the Harbourside has now embraced the bottomless brunch trend. Launching on March 18th, this Sunday offer sees diners able to choose a starter and a main with unlimited prosecco or Brahma beer for £24.95 per person.
