The amount of packaging – often unable to be recycled – on our day to day shopping is vast  – but new Bedminster shop Zero Green is aiming to eliminate the problem.

Opening on Saturday, March 10th, Zero Green bills itself as a zero waste shop, offering locally sourced food and drink as well as toiletries and other household goods. On the food front, expect items like rice, pasta, grains, beans, nuts, baking ingredients, cereals and plenty more.

Zero Green’s zero waste credentials come from the fact that there’s no packaging whatsoever – in the style of Gloucester Road’s Scoopaway, items are displayed in large containers from which you fill your own box, bag, jar or any other container you fancy using. And if you forget to bring a container, there’ll be options available to buy in-store too.

All you need to do is use the shop’s scales to weigh your empty container, then reweigh once it’s full before taking it to the till. Owners Stacey and Lidia have put together the following video that explains how it all works…

Zero Green opens on Saturday, March 10th at 12 North Street – formerly the home of Edwards estate agents. Want to find out more? Visit their Facebook page.
