Windmill Hill City Farm’s 40th birthday: September 24th

Windmill Hill City Farm

Windmill Hill City Farm will be marking their 40th birthday with a big celebration on Saturday, September 24th, and are inviting everyone to come along and join in the fun! Doors open at 11am for a mix of live music, street food, Farmer Tim’s famous BBQ, nature activities, screen printing, interactive theatre, outdoor games, story tours, singalongs, campfire cooking, and even FREE birthday cake!

Set up by volunteers in 1976, the farm has become a Bristol institution. The aim was to reclaim a piece of inner city wasteland and turn it into something more productive, giving the local community a chance to experience farming and nature. The farm is now a real hub, offering a chance for people to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax: visiting as a day out, eating and drinking at its award-winning café, taking part in arts and craft activities, or taking advantage of support groups, childcare and volunteering opportunities, among other things.

There will be live music on the day from a host of local bands, and there will be no shortage of tempting treats to eat and drink at the party thanks to the ‘BEATS’ street food market, Farmer Tim will be running the barbecue and cooking up some of the farms’ own rose veal burgers, and there will also be a bar with local beer and wine. And don’t forget the birthday cake…

Children will be entertained with an interactive ‘foody’ themed puppet show and storytelling, and there’ll be a campfire cooking and wood cutting session from The Ape Project too. Additional entertainment includes singalongs with farm-favourite Poco Drom, along with live screen printing and a giant outdoor games field with activities (and prizes!) for the whole family.

Adults will be able to learn whittling skills, enjoy a walking story tour, and request their fave tunes at the ‘human jukebox’ too. To find out more about the event, visit www.windmillhillcityfarm.org.uk.
