The team at Bravas on Cotham Hill hope that diners will devour a delicious dish to support people with cancer and their families.
Owners Kieran and Imogen Waite, who opened Bravas four years ago, have launched Pound for Penny to donate £1 to Penny Brohn UK for each aubergine with molasses dish sold in the next 12 months.
Kieran said: “A friend who lost his mum to cancer holds Penny Brohn UK close to his heart. I recently joined him for a bucket collection at Ashton Gate and was taken aback by how friendly people were when they saw we were collecting for Penny Brohn. The charity clearly has a positive impact on people’s lives – I felt that I could do more, so Imogen and I devised the scheme. We hope people pick the dish – to change the lives of thousands of people facing cancer.”
The couple, both 32, of Southville, chose the best-selling dish to try to top the £7,000 they raised for Doctors Without Borders last year. Penny Brohn corporate fundraiser Jamie Bramhall is a fan too – he says: “I’ve tried the dish and it’s delicious, so everyone should lap it up. We’re incredibly grateful to them for picking Penny Brohn – every penny will help us continue our life-changing work. Without dedicated people and companies such as Bravas, we couldn’t continue our free services across the UK.”
