The Bristol Seed Swap returns for 2016, taking place on Saturday 5th March 12-5pm at Feed Bristol in Stapleton.

The event celebrates the start of the growing year and is open to everyone across Bristol, from novice gardeners to permaculture professionals. It offers a chance for local people to find and share seeds, meet growers and local organisations, learn about seed saving, listen to talks from growing experts and find out more about what’s going on in their local community.

The event is a regular fixture in the gardening calendar and attracts hundreds of people from across the region. This year’s event will take place at the fantastic local community food-growing & wildlife project Feed Bristol in Stapleton.

Volunteers have been busy collecting seeds from local companies – including Almondsbury Garden Centre and Heritage Seed Library – as well as from their own allotments. From heritage kale & local tomatoes to sweet peas & wild flowers, they promise that there will be something for everyone.

The Bristol Seed Swap also promotes sustainable growing from explaining why & how to save your own seeds to promoting innovative green growing methods such as using Bio Char – an eco-friendly soil improver.

Along with the green-fingered fun, visitors can also enjoy home-baked cakes, craft stalls, plant sellers, live music, soup made from local produce by from Skipchen, storytelling (courtesy of Let Me Tell You A Story, Jack), a bug hunt treasure trail and other free kids activities.

Volunteer organiser Sara Venn of Incredible Edible Bristol said, “The Seed Swap is always enormous fun. Finding great seeds for your garden or allotment is obviously the most important part of the day, but it’s also great to have an excuse to get together with other growers, learn some new ideas, enjoy a slice of great cake and have a boogie to the band!”

Bristol Seedswap 2016 takes place on Saturday 5 March (12 – 5pm) at Feed Bristol, Avon Wildlife Trust, Frenchay Park Rd, Bristol BS16 1HB.
