The former Foresters Arms at 99 Gloucester Road has been transformed by Wickwar Wessex Brewing & Pub Company, and now has a new lease of life as The Gloucester Road Ale House & Kitchen.
Opening towards the end of January, The Gloucester Road Ale House & Kitchen is an ale and craft beer pub, with an extensive choice of ales, lagers and ciders with changes to be made on a regular basis. As you’d expect, there will be Wickwar Wessex Brewery choices such as BOB, Falling Star and Cotswold Way, but there are also several rotating guest ales promised. Those who are more partial to cider can choose between Mortimer’s Orchard, Cloudy Apple, Thatcher’s Gold and a range of traditional offerings. There are also plans for gin and cocktail menus.
On the food front, expect ingredients to be locally sourced from Gloucester Road suppliers, including The Bread Store and T Murray’s butcher. The menu will change daily to reflect seasonal produce, and you can expect to see the likes of handmade burgers, sausage & champ and colourful salads. There will also be an express lunch menu, along with a range of light bites and tapas sharers. Sunday lunch offerings and a children’s menu will also be available.
There are plans for different nights of the week too: Tuesday Ale Sales with all cask ales priced at £2.50; acoustic music nights on Wednesdays and two for one cocktail offers on Thursdays.
With vintage silent films running during the daytime, candlelit tables at night, free wifi and wireless printing and BT and terrestrial sports, there’s plenty going on. The fact that the pub has bars on both floors means that they’ll also be offering the venue out for private hire too.
