Swing into the Year of the Monkey with Wai Yee Hong from 11.30am on Saturday, 6th February, at Bristol’s Eastgate Oriental City. Entertainments include traditional firecrackers, lion dances, kung fu, traditional and contemporary dancing, and a performance from X Factor-finalist Tita Lau. Visitors can also enjoy the team’s largest ever festive food and gift market for some delicious hot street food. The event is free and everyone is welcome.
The event is organised by Wai Yee Hong, a family-run Chinese Supermarket based in Bristol for over 30 years. Manager Allison Chow says: “We have been organising these celebrations for around 30 years, and each year it gets bigger and better. We love being able to share the fun of one of our most important festivals with everyone.
This year, we’re really excited because we’ve arranged more acts and have organised an even bigger festive market which will have lots of delicious Asian foods, face painting and New Year gifts.”
2016 will see the Year of the Monkey arrive – those born in a Monkey year are said to be intelligent, cheeky and with agile minds. The influence of the unpredictable monkey means that this year is one in which anything can happen!
