In the autumn of 2015, Adelina Yard hosted pop ups in both Totterdown and Bedminster, testing the water before their opening on Welsh Back on New Year’s Eve 2015.
Serving “modern European food in a relaxed, family atmosphere”, Adelina Yard is the brainchild of chefs Jamie Randall (formerly of Odettes and Galvin La Chapelle) and Olivia Barry (Murano, Galvin), and started life with a fantastic-looking tasting menu served on New Year’s Eve.
The team have released their menu for January – “slightly limited due to time of year”, they say, but they’ll also be releasing their du jour and tasting menus soon. In their first month, expect starters such as raw venison, truffle, pickled squash, toasted seeds and preserved yolk (£8); mains to include barbequed Goosnargh duck, bacon jam, hispi cabbage and spiced plum (£21), and a dessert list that includes an Ironbark pumpkin tart with maple syrup ice cream (£7).
From a price point of view, it seems a strange time of year to open – with a three course meal reaching £42.50 a head, it’s definitely at the higher end of 2015’s new openings. There’s no denying that the menu looks fantastic, though – I’ll be in soon to try it out…
