Usually when we see product names including “sugar free” and “dairy free” you think it’s going to be something unappetising. At least it sounds so. You think about diets and food limits…but it is not necessary so boring. If you adjust the food to your taste, keeping a healthy menu, it can be incredibly delicious. So to start your day the gluten-free way, try one of these healthy breakfasts!

Let’s start with a short explanation. What is gluten free food and who should consume it?

Gluten is a protein composite found in grains such as wheat, barley and rye. Of course you can find it in bread and all bakery food. Although it is widely used all over the world, there are between 0.5 and 0.1 percent of people in the USA and the UK who are intolerant to gluten because of coeliac disease. The consumption of food containing gluten causes them abdominal discomfort and other symptoms, and the only escape for them is a gluten free diet.

It’s well known that breakfast is the main food of the day. A good and healthy start promises an excellent continuation of the day and it’s very important how you choose your meal.

Here is a list of products which can be tasty as well as healthy for you:

Gluten free porridge

Of course, porridge is considered one of the best choices for breakfast and it’s easy to see why – it’s quick, filling and oats are a great source of nutrients. Oats are naturally gluten free, but most mass produced oats aren’t because they come into contact with gluten-based products. Luckily, there are great gluten free porridge oats, with no added nuts, salt or sugar, which you can find in supermarkets. Porridge doesn’t have to mean oats though, and many naturally gluten free grains like rice, corn, soy and others are also used to make porridge – be a little exotic!

Fresh eggs

Eggs are also a good choice for a healthy breakfast. Eggs are naturally gluten free. Fried or boiled, try them with fresh avocado and gluten free bread…. Hmmmm… Yummy!

Dairy products

Most dairy products are gluten free, so you can start your day perfectly with a fruit milkshake or smoothie or a light yoghurt.

Fresh meat and fish

If you prefer a version of a “more serious” breakfast, why not to start your morning with fresh meat and fish? They are rich in nutrients and fats which will provide you with strength for the whole day. But take care which sauce you choose: many of them contain gluten. So pay attention to the ingredients list!

Fruits and vegetables

Fresh or frozen, whatever is your choice, fruits and vegetables are also naturally gluten free. Potatoes with fresh meat or fish are another great combination. And don’t forget your dose of vitamins – a glass of natural juice sits well alongside any breakfast.

Once you have a list of all the products which are gluten free, it will be easy for you to create your own healthy menu.
