Cheddar Ales has launched a spicy farmhouse saison called Firewitch as part of its new premium craft range. The Cheddar Ales premium craft range allows the creative brewers at Cheddar Ales to make one off, seasonal or more experimental brew styles. The saison is brewed using Pilsner, Munich and a little wheat malt with fresh citrus fruit zest, Indian coriander and grains of paradise with a blend of Sorachi Ace, Calypso and Pacific Jade hops.

“Creating a new brew is very exciting for us at Cheddar Ales. We love and trust our core range, but it’s nice to flex our brewing muscles by experimenting with more unusual styles. The Saison is such an adaptable style of beer that we knew we could make something unique and really remarkable. Using the fresh zest and spices make it truly individual to us, while still fitting into our house style of making drinkable, well balanced beers.” says Emily Williamson, Sales and Marketing Manager, Cheddar Ales.

Firewitch is the moniker of the pink flower which originates from the Cheddar Gorge and exudes a spicy aroma. A medium bodied pale straw beer with slight natural haze from the yeast. Firewitch has fresh zesty fruit and rich warm spice aromas with a kick of lemon, coriander, black pepper and coconut on the palate.

Traditionally winter brewed in Belgium ready for summer farm workers, the saison style is light, thirst quenching but flavourful beer.

Cheddar Ales is an artisan brewery nestled deep into the Somerset Mendips near the Cheddar Gorge. Founded in 2006 by brewer Jem Ham, Cheddar Ales borrows from both traditional and modern brewing techniques. Cheddar Ales produce 6 beers in their core range, including a pale ale, IPA, golden ale, best bitter, premium ale and porter. Local Mendip water and malts sourced from the best of British farmers are used with a mixture of English, European and New World hops to create well balanced, flavoursome award winning ales. For Jem, who has over 20 years of brewing experience, the range represents his passion for distinctive beers and his commitment to consistency and quality across the range.

Firewitch is 4.8% ABV and is available from the week commencing 27th April in 500ml bottles, 30ltr eco-kegs and 9g firkin casks.
