Fuelled By Cider are pleased to announce the launch of their new “Urban Cider Festival” in the heart of BS5. Taking place at the All Hallows Hall, Easton on Saturday April 4th there will be dozens of fine ciders on offers and the very first Fuelled By Cider Awards will be given to the best of them. The winners of these awards will be chosen by you, the general public.
As well as the cider, there will some great live music throughout the day, including OutCider Festival favourites John D Revelator, The White City Shakers & The Surfin’ Turnips taking to the All Hallows stage.
The tastings start at midday and will run until 5pm or all the tasting cider has gone. Entry to this part of the event is free and when you buy your first tasting rack of cider you will be given a wristband to allow you free entry into the evening part of the event which will be £5 to anyone else.
How the tasting and awards will work
The tasting session will be blind – you won’t know who has made the cider you have bought. You will be able to choose a rack from the all of the different categories in the awards. Each rack will contain 5 different ciders, each individually numbered and priced at £2 a rack. You will receive a scoring card on which you can fill in your marks for each cider. As with any event with alcohol present, drinking sensibly and within reason is encouraged. When you finish you rack, place your scoring card in the boxes provided: the organisers will then tot up the scores and announce the winners during the evening.
There will also be a fully stocked and licensed bar for those wanting something different (real ale, wine, soft drinks) or to drink a cider they know. Food will be available all day at the venue.
The Entertainment
The early part of the day is dedicated to the tasting of cider. The first act will be on at around 3pm and then in the evening there will be two bands and a DJ from 8pm. Live music will be over by 11pm and curfew is midnight. Entry to the evening session (after 5pm) is £5 for those without a wristband from the tasting session.
Cider Producers
If you are a cider producer, use the form on the festival website to find out how to get your ciders in the festival for a chance of winning one of the inaugural Fuelled By Cider Awards. Entry is open to any producer from anywhere, as long as you can get the cider to the festival then you can enter the show. All ciders will need to be supplied in 5L BIB/flagon. The team may be able to collect cider from Somerset/Dorset/East Devon the week before the festival.
