It’s been a big few years for the Triangle, with businesses such as CAU, Bill’s, Be At One and Bottelino’s all opting to open premises in this buzzing part of the city.
Soon there will be another big name to add to the mix, with a branch of Thomasina Miers’ Wahaca set to occupy Unit 5 of Maggs House, formerly the home of Butlers.
Miers first shot to fame after winning BBC MasterChef in 2005, and opened her first Wahaca restaurant in London in 2007. While much of the UK’s Mexican food is actually Tex-Mex, Wahaca offers the authentic flavours of Mexican street food dishes, recreating dishes sampled at the country’s markets. The menu consists of both street food plates, designed to be shared tapas-style, and larger dishes that make for hearty main courses.
The planning application to convert the site from a retail premises to a restaurant has been approved, as has the brand’s alcohol licence. Tweets from Miers suggest an opening date of July 2015, so watch this space…
I wish my town could get some nice restaurants, that said Glasgow is onlt 20 minutes away so we don’t get the chance of that here.
