A pub landlord from North Somerset has taken a historic village inn back to its original roots after listening to the community.
Brains brewery took over the ownership of The Dew Drop Inn, in Flax Bourton, last year and undertook a major refurbishment to both the interior and rear garden.
The family-friendly pub had been renamed from The Jubilee Inn during the previous ownership to the Dew Drop, but villagers were unhappy with the name change.
General Manager, Marc Casey, said the community longed for the pub to be restored to its original name, The Jubilee Inn, and also requested that a children’s play area be reinstated.
In light of the requests Mr Casey, who was recently appointed, has re-launched the pub as The Jubilee Inn and has installed a new state-of-the-art play area in the garden.
To showcase the changes, a re-launch night was held on December 4, with both regulars and local dignitaries invited to attend.
Mr Casey said: “When Brains revamped the pub last year they wanted to inject a new lease of life into the village and undertook major improvements, but kept its previous name.
“However, after listening to our customers, the majority said they preferred the pub’s original name, The Jubilee Inn, as it was what regulars had long associated the pub with.
“We have therefore listened to feedback from the entire community and have reverted back to the pub’s original name, The Jubilee.
“As well as making changes to the name, we’ve also made a few layout and menu changes to ensure more fresh, home cooked dishes, as well as installing a new children’s play area to meet customer requests.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming new and returning customers to the Jubilee Inn, whether for a pint of our finest cask ale with friends, or a meal with the family.”

Nice pub and not a rip-off on soft drink prices, 90p for a pint of soda and lime (January 2015) is decent. Some greedy publicans try to charge the same as beer even though soft drinks don’t incur alcohol taxes.
