You may have noticed that the banner ad at the top of the Bristol Bites website has recently changed to promote a very good cause. The NHS Blood and Transplant service in Bristol is launching a brand new campaign with the aim of encouraging more people to register as a blood donor, in the form of “A Baking Community for Blood Donation”.
The new campaign will be launched on College Green on Friday, October 10th from 12-3pm. Organised to support those giving/looking to give blood at the Bristol Donor Centre, the team are asking Bristolians to bring along their friends, family and colleagues to sign up to donate.
The event will also be attended by a special guest: award-winning cake designer and television presenter Mich Turner MBE. Mich has personal reasons for attending the launch event: she will be speaking about how blood donation saved her son’s life when he was born prematurely.
Mich has also designed a very special signature cake recipe for this campaign, and those who sign up on the day to donate at the Bristol Donor Centre will be lucky enough to enjoy a slice.
The team are also looking for enthusiastic people to get involved with the campaign by holding their own local events, baking cakes and sharing pictures of these on social media. For more information about how to get involved – including contact details – click on the flyer below. Everyone loves cake – and even more so when it’s for such a great cause!
