It seems that wood fired pizzas are the next big thing in Bristol. In addition to Flour & Ash opening on Cheltenham Road in October, we also have Bosco Pizzeria opening its doors for the first time on Friday, September 12th on Whiteladies Road.
Bosco is a neighbourhood pizzeria inspired by the best pizzerias of Naples and New York City. Owned by Miles & Charly Johnson (The Kensington Arms), with Joe Cook (former RockFish manager) as general manager and Jake Platt (formerly of The Bird In Hand) as head chef, Bosco will be serving wood fired, neapolitan-style pizzas alongside a collection of Miles & Charly’s favourite dishes from their travels around Italy.
As you’ll see from the opening menu, the pizzas range from £8 to £11.50, with different combinations of toppings aimed to appeal to carnivores, fish lovers and vegetarians alike. Alongside the pizzas will be a selection of Italian small plates, wood fired main courses and a separate deli menu that will star Italian cured meats and cheeses, some of which have been imported exclusively for Bosco.
A day of free tasters on September 6th appears to have gone well, and Bosco are hosting a few staff training days before the big opening day on Friday, September 12th.
