Copper Jacks on Clare Street no longer exists. The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that – with no fanfare – there is now a wine and tapas bar in its place in the form of new business Pata Negra.
The owners of Pata Negra, however, are not so new: it’s the same team as is behind Hyde & Co, The Milk Thistle and The Ox. As with The Milk Thistle, Pata Negra is a venue spread across multiple floors: you’ll find the main tapas and wine bar on the ground floor, cocktail and music bar Noche Negra on the first floor and a second floor function room.
Downstairs, guests can drink wines from the Iberian peninsula (and a few from further afield), with a wine list that includes a small selection of sparkling wines, with the rest of the list ordered based on the particular region from which the wines come.
The small food menu is based purely around tapas, with dishes reasonably priced from £2.50 up to £18. Between 12pm and 3pm, diners can enjoy 3 tapas dishes for £10, while the team are also offering a pintxos deal from 3pm onwards: 3 pintxos and a glass of Fino sherry for £7.
Those visiting Pata Negra will also be able to choose from a selection of 8 different varieties of sherry, as well as beers, ciders and cocktails.
Opening hours are currently 12pm – 12am Tuesday to Saturday, and 12pm – 6pm on Sunday. The first floor cocktail bar – Noche Negra – is open from 9pm – 4am Thursday to Saturday. During the first few weeks, there will be live music and DJs to enjoy between Thursday or Saturday – something that the team is hoping to make a regular fixture.
