Supper club enthusiasts are sure to remember Sam Leach, who formerly hosted the Southville Supper Club, followed by the Blue Door Supper Club when he moved. These supper clubs were followed by 18 months of working his way around London’s food and drink scene, before a return to Bristol in late 2013. After the launch of a new supper club (Stargazey and Hare) and a stint at Mark’s Bread, among other things, Sam and partner Beccy are beginning a new venture in the form of their own restaurant: Birch on Raleigh Road, Southville.
May 21st is the opening date, with the first weekend filling up very fast. Expect a short, daily changing menu “reflecting the excellent produce and traditions of the region”, with the menu posted on the window on May 21st reading as follows (click to enlarge)…
Excitingly, the team have managed to acquire half an acre of land in the south of Bristol, which is being transformed into a garden that will supply produce to the Birch kitchen.
Serving wines, beers, cider and perry as well as soft drinks, we’re looking forward to trying Birch for ourselves!
