Calling all Bristol parents! Has dining out together become a thing of the past since your kids arrived? Do you struggle to find a babysitter or just don’t like to leave the little ones? A South Bristol play café has the solution you need…
Hungry Caterpillar Play Café in Bedminster is inviting parents to venture out next Friday night to enjoy an evening of culinary delights courtesy of local Cantonese creators Ah-Ma’s Dumplings, and the best thing is, you needn’t worry about babysitting.
On 23 May, for £25 per person, a five course menu will enable you to taste the wonders of dim sum, whilst your kids eat for free and are wowed by professional kids’ entertainers Peejay Entertainments. Balloon modelling, face painting and story time are just some of the activities on hand to keep kids occupied in the café’s spacious play area.
This is the third pop up supper club to be held by Hungry Caterpillar Play Café. Previous nights have proved so successful with local parents and carers that a regular Friday evening supper club is set to launch on 27 June to run throughout the Summer, with changing menus offering two courses for £15, delivered by local chef Tim Owen of Bristol pop up specialists Dinewithi.
Melody Beard, who founded the busy Hungry Caterpillar Play Café in 2013 after the birth of her daughter, says: “Having kids is life changing, and a lot of things you used to do all the time, like eating out, become more difficult. We wanted to create the opportunity for parents to dine out together like they used to, enjoying fantastic food, without having to worry about leaving the kids. Why should they miss out?
“We’ve held two supper clubs so far, and the feedback has been fantastic. Parents tell us they’ve loved the food and really enjoyed being able to relax and enjoy an amazing meal whilst their kids are benefit from a new experience of their own nearby. From June we’ll be holding supper clubs every Friday evening, with some delicious help from local chef Tim Owen, so there’ll be plenty of chances for parents to reconnect with their inner gastronome!”
Ah-Ma’s Dumplings’ Anita Cheung says: “We look forward to another great evening at The Hungry Caterpillar Café. To delight the taste buds we have Chicken and Coriander Dumplings, Pork Spare Ribs, Chilli Bean Aubergine and much more! Our last supper club on 9 May was fully booked, and it was great to see such satisfied parents enjoying our food, as well as kids having lots of fun!”
