About Vale House Kitchen

The first of its kind in England, Vale House Kitchen offers a selection of courses which give food lovers the opportunity to learn not only how to cook local, seasonal produce, but also how to hunt, forage and fish for the raw ingredients. Gift vouchers are available for all courses on offer.

In the perfect rural location in the village of Timsbury, eight miles southwest of Bath, owners Bod & Annie Griffiths endeavour to make every visit to Vale House Kitchen as bespoke and informative as possible. They have secured the country’s leading professionals, such as Tim Maddams, former Head Chef at River Cottage, Vivien Lloyd, who has 35 years’ experience of making, judging and demonstrating preserves and Sandra Monger, award-winning wedding cake and celebration cake designer to tutor small groups in the traditional rural skills of fly-fishing, shooting, foraging as well as butchery and cookery.

 

About The Foraging Course

Wander through fields and woodlands during this light and lively introduction to foraging. On this one day foraging course you’ll discover, collect and prepare wild foods with the helpful guidance of accomplished forager, Chris Westgate. You’ll not only learn to identify common wild foods, you’ll marvel at the lost natural history in everyday rhymes and references. Her knowledge of plant lore means Chris is hugely interesting to listen to as you wander through the Timsbury countryside. Lunch is included.

How To Enter

For your chance to win a place for both you and a friend/partner on the upcoming foraging course on Saturday, April 26th, all you need to do is to answer the following question:

 

“How much does each place on the Introduction to Foraging course normally cost?”

Send your answer by email, with the subject line “Vale House Kitchen Competition” to emily@breaksandbites.co.uk by 3pm on Thursday, April 24th to enter – the winner of the two places on the course will be selected that evening and notified (and sent all of the relevant details!) on Friday, April 25th. 1. Closing date for entries is 24th April 2014 at 3pm.
2. The winner will be chosen at random by Bristol Bites and notified by Vale House Kitchen
3. The prize is two places at the Foraging Course with Chris Westgate and doesn’t include travel costs that the winner may incur
4. Participants must be over 16 years of age to enter the competition
5. The prize cannot be transferred to another person
6. No part of a prize is exchangeable for cash or any other prize
