Chocolate lovers from Bath and around are being offered a unique opportunity to learn the secrets of making – and tasting – luxury chocolates during a three-course Chocolate Feast hosted by Marc Demarquette, one of Britain’s top chocolatiers.
The Feast, in the All Saints Centre in Weston, Bath, on Saturday 26th April, will be cooked by Hrishikesh Desai (known as Kesh), head chef at the cookery school at Lucknam Park. The menu is being kept secret until the night, but all three courses will contain at least a hint of chocolate, savoury or sweet. Given that Marc is half French and trained in Paris, and Kesh trained under French chef Paul Bocuse, the Feast is guaranteed to have a definite French flavour – but with some intriguing twists. At the end of the meal diners will eat truffles that Marc has made before guests during the evening.
On arrival guests get a complimentary cocktail made with Chase vodka plus one of Marc’s more exotic chocolates.
Tickets, priced at £40, are bookable in advance through the website www.feastwithachef.co.uk.
The Chocolate Feast is organized by Feast with a Chef, run by Bristol-based food writer Clare Hargreaves. Feasts are cooked by top chefs in village halls with the aim of bringing fine dining to a wider audience in an informal setting. Clare calls it ‘Fine dining without the starch’ or ‘Fine food without the fuss.’ ‘High-end restaurants can often be rather formal and intimidating, so it’s great to be able to bring top chefs and their amazing cooking to the more relaxed setting of a village hall,” she says. “Many people get to taste food that they might never otherwise experience.”
In May, Feast with a Chef will be organizing two more fabulous feasts as part of the Bristol Food Connections festival. All feasts so far have sold out several weeks before the event, so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
What diners love about Feast with a Chef is the blend of fabulous food and the relaxed environment of a village hall. Guests sit at long tables, getting the chance to meet others in their neighbourhood and feel part of a community.
