Traditional afternoon tea is a great way to celebrate Christmas, because it always feels like an occasion, an indulgent treat that you don’t get the chance to enjoy every day of the year. And because it’s taken in the afternoon, it can include family members and office colleagues of every age group, from the young to the old, without worrying about whether they’re going to be able to keep their eyes open late into the night!
To make it even more special, The Bristol Hotel has given its afternoon tea a festive spin and added a dash of festive spirit in the shape of a Hendricks Gin cocktail. Finger sandwiches feature traditional Christmas foods, such as smoked salmon, turkey & cranberry and Stilton & apple chutney, while the “cakes” include gingerbread cookies, mini mince pies, choux buns filled with cranberry cream and chocolate log. The one thing they haven’t messed with – they wouldn’t dare! – are the scones, which still come served with clotted cream and jam, and of course the tea itself.
Festive afternoon tea at The Bristol Hotel costs £19.95 per person and is served daily in The River Lounge between 2pm and 5pm. Bookings during the festive season are recommended, call 0017 923 0333 to make a reservation.
